Potential and new clients are often curious about my coaching process. I offer a balance of structure and spaciousness that allows the client to trust the process enough to have their own personal experiences within it. Here’s a brief description:
Establishing the Coaching Engagement
First, there is an exploratory conversation. What kind of help is the client looking for? Is the coach the right coach for the client? If the coach and client want to work together, a verbal commitment is made to proceed to the next step.
Next are the discovery conversations. Specific client goals and learning opportunities are identified and a strategy for success is developed. The coach offers tools and skills to help the client. If client and coach want to proceed, a 12-session commitment is made and the actual coaching sessions begin.
Pre-coaching Session prep: The client completes a pre-session form and submits it 24 hours in advance of the session. This step helps the client synthesize activities and learnings between session and to prioritize the topics to be discussed in the coaching session. The coach gets to see the agenda for the session and has time to prepare.
Coaching Session: The 1-hour session is conducted on the phone or in person. The client determines the topics and priorities, and the coach manages the session accordingly. At the end of the session, the client reviews their action items to be completed before the next coaching session.
Post-coaching Session: Coach updates and sends session notes with observations to the client.
Mid-Point and Completion Reviews
During coaching sessions 6 the specific goals and progress are reviewed, as well as the coaching engagement. Adjustments are discussed and made to ensure the success of the client and the engagement.
At the end of the engagement progress towards the specific goals and are reviewed. as well as the coaching engagement. Adjustments can be made and the engagement continue if the client and coach are in agreement.
